Development of a Clinical Pathway & associated education materials

Development of a Clinical Pathway for patients suffering from Debilitating Symptom Complexes Attributed to Ticks (DSCATT) and associated education materials

What we’re doing

Allen + Clarke established an evidence-based clinical pathway to support decision-making and multidisciplinary care model to support clinicians’ decision-making on differential diagnosis and referral pathways for patients presenting with DSCATT, which can be applied in both private and public healthcare settings.

Allen + Clarke has also been engaged to develop education materials for medical practitioners and the public.

How we’re doing it

To inform the clinical pathway we have:

  • conducted an extensive evidence review of relevant literature and key documents including international research and best practice/guideline documents
  • conducted interviews with key stakeholders including medical and other health professionals, government health authorities
  • held a think tank with patient groups.

To inform the education resources we have:

  • conducted further collection and analysis of relevant evidence
  • undertook user-testing with key stakeholders

Benefits for the client

Allen + Clarke have produced the following:

  • Final literature review
  • Final clinical pathway
  • Factsheets for consumers and Guidance Notes for clinicians.
