What we did
The New Zealand Ministry of Health engaged us to undertake a strategic review of deceased organ donation and transplantation, and develop a national strategy to increase donation and transplantation rates in New Zealand.
How we did it
We led a Sector Working Group of multi-disciplinary experts and key stakeholders (clinicians, peak bodies, sector leaders, government agencies, and consumer representatives) to develop the Strategy document. This included identifying information and evidence to inform and support the proposal for reform outlined in the Strategy, synthesising the outcomes of public consultation, facilitating Sector Working Group meetings, and engaging with a range of stakeholders (including Ministers and sector representatives).
Benefits for the client
The Strategy was approved by the Government and outlines its approach to increase deceased organ donation and transplantation in New Zealand, reforms to the system, and greater collaboration and integration among stakeholders. The Strategy was published on the Government’s website; https://www.health.govt.nz/publication/increasing-deceased-organ-donation-and-transplantation-national-strategy.
