Assessment of compliance with tobacco control legislation

What we did

The World Health Organization engaged us to support Fiji and the Cook Islands to assess their compliance with the World Health Organization’s Protocol to Eliminate the Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products.

How we did it

The Protocol is an international agreement that was negotiated to provide a global response to illicit tobacco products. Our work has involved supporting Fiji and the Cook Islands to understand the implications of the Protocol and what it requires them to do, assess their existing legislation, policies and systems against the requirements in the Protocol, identify areas of current compliance and those areas of non-compliance, and develop options to enable compliance with the Protocol.

Benefits for the client

Fiji and the Cook Islands were supported to be compliant with the Protocol.
