Donna Stephens

Donna’s family are Murran people from North West Arnhem Land, she also acknowledges her Scottish and Spanish histories.  Donna has extensive experience in the Education sector, from early childhood, teacher professional learning (whole school change, literacy practice and pedagogy) and Higher Education.

Over the past decade Donna has focused on sociocultural qualitative research, developmental and PAR evaluation, community engagement and Indigenous research methodologies with a particular interest in remote contexts.  Donna’s roles have included project management where she has led and co-led research and evaluation projects, including studies of educational pathways in remote communities,  alcohol treatments services, youth mental health and suicide programs, social and emotional wellbeing and workforce development .

Donna has authored/co-authored numerous papers and evaluation reports.  Donna currently holds the Inaugural Community First Development Research and Evaluation Fellowship and is undertaking a PhD focused on Remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Teachers: Professional Identity and Digital Technologies.
